For 2 weeks in late September and early October this year my wife Liz and I enjoyed a Rotary Friendship Exchange between our District 1010 North of Scotland and District 5440 Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming.

This was the return visit following a visit to Scotland earlier this year in June. We had a wonderful time with five different Rotarian Hosts and the experience reminded us of ITHF but between Districts rather than on a one to one basis. During the two week tour we took the opportunity to extol the virtues and similarities with ITHF about which very few of our hosts had heard (indeed Rotary’s best kept secret) with some degree of success with at least three of them signing up to ITHF.

Following the tour Liz and I flew to Fresno with the intention of ‘doing’ Yosemite but the vagaries of the US Government meant that we could only “drive through without stopping and looking.” We continued on to Lake Tahoe and then to our first ITHF contact in Folsom Lake.

Givonna Debruin at RI HeadquartersVisit to Chicago

Pam Doyle, Revelstoke, BC, Canada

In August, my travelling companion GIVONNA DEBRUIN of Vernon, BC, Canada, and I travelled to Chicago, Illinois, USA for a week's visit. Givonna, an experienced ITHF member, had written to TAMIYE & JIM MEEHAN, to ask if they could host us for three nights. We were thrilled to see Tamiye's quick and positive response with suggestions on what to do with our free time and an offer to pick us up at the airport. At the airport, a Jeep pulled up with our names posted in the window! At Meehans' lovely home in a heritage area of Chicago, we were greeted by two curious Norwegian Elkhounds: Trinka and Cody. With their help we settled into our rooms located on the third floor and then were treated to dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant.

Holding Hands in Two Hemispheres

Patrick & Juliet Byashishaki - Kampala, Uganda

I joined ITHF in Bangkok in 2011, and this year I  really enjoyed the fruits of my membership. In  May, GRACE MAANO of Sydney, Australia, wrote  to say she would be visiting Uganda and wanted  to connect with members of the ITHF. With  eagerness, I immediately offered to host her at  my residence, but due to her heavy schedule, we
agreed the hotel would be more comfortable.

Grace arrived on Thursday, our Rotary Club Fellowship Day. She attended our fellowship, and  members were very happy and excited to receive her. She talked about her mission to Uganda,  which included touring as part of the ITHF program and a follow-up of the Fistula and Medical  equipment projects funded by the DAK Foundation in Australia. Our club agreed to be part of  the team to implement the projects.

This fellowship is not an agency of, or controlled by, Rotary International
